Mazda Motor Corporation Joins the Research Association

Mazda Motor Corporation has become a full member of the Research Association of Biomass Innovation for Next Generation Automobile Fuels. The Research Association was established on July 1, 2022, by ENOS Corporation, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Subaru Corporation, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor Corporation, and Toyota Tsusho, making Mazda the seventh participating company.

What is the Research Association Responsible for?

The Research Association’s goal is a carbon-neutral society. They promote technological research on the use of biomass, as well as the efficient production of bioethanol fuel for automobiles. They also conduct research on improving production technology for bioethanol fuel and using C02 generated during its production.

Why Has Mazda Joined the Research Association?

The research has coincided with many of Mazda’s carbon neutrality efforts, which prompted Mazda to join the Research Association.

The Chairman of the Board of the Research Association, Koichi Nakata, said, “Carbon-neutral fuels are a leading energy option for realizing a carbon-neutral society. We are delighted that Mazda, which has accumulated considerable knowledge and technology relating to carbon-neutral fuels, has become our new partner. The Research Association will further promote research on production technology and bioethanol fuel and the use of CO2 generated during that process.”
