Winter is upon us, and we all know what that means — driving is about to get a lot more dangerous. We can’t stress enough the importance of scheduling Mazda service at Woodhouse Mazda to help you stay in control, even in the harshest elements.

Pack a Safety Kit

While you can never predict the unexpected, it’s always helpful to try to prepare for it. A safety kit can help ensure that you are ready for anything.

A few items you may want to include:

  • First aid kit
  • Ice scraper
  • Small shovel
  • Blanket
  • Non-perishable snacks and bottled water
  • Kitty litter or sand

Fill Up Your Windshield Wiper Fluid

When driving in the winter, visibility is often limited. Then, on top of it all, big trucks and semis can quickly cover your windshield in slush. It’s important that your windshield wipers can quickly (and completely) clear your windshield and that your wiper fluid is always kept full.

Switch to Winter Tires

Winter tires are your best chance of staying in control on snowy or slick surfaces. If you can, switch out your tires for the season. At the very least, make sure that your tires have at least 6/32 of an inch of tread for the traction you need.

Inspect Your Battery

You don’t want to find yourself, quite literally, left out in the cold this winter. As the temperatures drop, your battery can struggle to perform. Now is a good time to have your battery inspected to make sure that it’s working optimally or if it’s time for you to replace it.
