Avoid These Common Hazards on the Road This Summer
While we all know the basics of driving, many of us have forgotten what we learned in drivers ed over the years. So today, our Nebraska Mazda dealers have come up with three common road hazards, and some tips and tricks for dealing with them.
Bad weather is always one of the greatest driving risks, and luckily, it’s not too hard to drive safely under poor conditions. One of the most important things is to slow down a little in rain or snow, and to keep a longer than usual following distance from the vehicle in front of you, since it could take longer to brake on slick roads.
Other hazards come from other people – reckless drivers or pedestrians can be scary and unpredictable. The best thing you can do about a reckless driver is to slow down or pull over, and let them get far past you. For pedestrians, be extra vigilant and remember – even if they’re the one being reckless, you are the one who would inflict the most damage.
Of course, one of everyone’s least favorite driving hazards is potholes. We all come across them sometimes, and it can be easy to give in to the temptation to move quickly out of the way. But that could put you in the path of oncoming traffic, so it’s better to slow down, which gives you an opportunity to drive around the pothole safely or cross over it carefully and minimize the potential damage to your Mazda vehicle.
We want all our drivers to stay safe on the road, whether you’re in a new 2019 Mazda3 or a used Mazda CX-5. Bellevue drivers have the skills to avoid common dangers, and they can find the cars that will help here in Omaha at Woodhouse Mazda!
