2019 Mazda6 Awarded Safety Honor
When it comes to safety, Mazda automakers take things pretty seriously. So seriously in fact that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded Top Safety Pick status to several models, including the 2019 Mazda3 and the 2019 Mazda CX-9.
In order to earn the title of Top Safety Pick, the 2019 Mazda6 had to undergo six separate crashworthiness tests like roof strength and head restraint to evaluate how well it would perform in a crash situation. Top Safety Picks have to earn the highest possible rating, “good”, in five of the six tests. The 2019 Mazda6 earned a “good” rating in all six. But that’s not the only factor earning the IIHS honor – cars are also evaluated on their front crash prevention system and headlights. Thanks to the Mazda i-ACTIVSENSE® safety system, including features like advanced smart city brake support with pedestrian detection and Mazda radar cruise control with stop and go, the 2019 Mazda6 passed with flying colors.
As Mazda President Jeff Guyton pointed out, “taking an active approach to safety gives the driver more peace of mind, which makes driving more fun.” We couldn’t agree more, which is why we’re thrilled to have so many IIHS Top Safety Picks, now including the 2019 Mazda6, available for Nebraska drivers.
